Normas
DISCE. Scientific Journal of Education and Social Sciences publishes original and unpublished works in the field of education and social sciences, which must meet academic and methodological rigor criteria. The journal accepts research articles, theoretical and methodological reviews, academic essays, and book reviews. Below are the guidelines for manuscript submission:
1. Submission Criteria
- Manuscripts must be original and not under review in any other publication.
- Papers containing plagiarism or self-plagiarism will not be accepted. This will be verified using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools). The similarity percentage must not exceed 20% (excluding correctly attributed citations and references).
- It is recommended that articles include an international perspective and updated references, with at least 30% of citations from the last five years.
2. Types of Accepted Manuscripts
- Research articles: Original works with an empirical methodology (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed) presenting relevant findings.
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: Critical literature studies based on PRISMA methodologies or equivalent approaches.
- Theoretical essays: Critical analyses providing new perspectives on educational and social topics.
- Book reviews: Critical evaluations of relevant works in education and social sciences.
3. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) with the following specifications:
- Length: Between 6,000 and 8,000 words (excluding references, tables, and appendices).
- Format: Times New Roman font, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified alignment.
3.1 Structure of Original Articles and Reviews
- Title in Spanish and English (concise and representative of the content).
- Abstract in Spanish and English: Between 150 and 250 words, structured following IMRaD.
- Keywords: Between 4 and 6, aligned with the ERIC Thesaurus.
- Introduction: Statement of the problem, objectives, and relevance of the study.
- Methodology: Description of design, sample, instruments, and analysis.
- Results: Clear and objective presentation of findings.
- Discussion and conclusions: Interpretation of results and limitations.
- References: APA 7th edition format.
3.2 Structure of Essays and Reviews
- Title in Spanish and English.
- Introduction: Presentation of the topic, relevance, and objectives of the text.
- Development: Critical argumentation of the discussed topic.
- Conclusions: Summary of the reflection and possible implications.
- References: APA 7th edition format.
Length: Between 2,000 and 4,000 words.
4. Tables and Figures
- Must be inserted within the text and numbered sequentially.
- APA 7th edition format should be followed.
- Images must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and should also be submitted as separate files (.jpg or .png).
5. Evaluation Criteria and Peer Review Process
- Manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process.
- If there is a discrepancy between reviewers, a third evaluator will be assigned.
- Authors will be notified of acceptance, rejection, or required modifications within approximately three months.
6. Submission and Final Considerations
- Authors must register on the journal's platform and submit their manuscript through the online submission system.
- No Article Processing Charges (APCs) will be applied.
- All works published in DISCE will be under a Creative Commons (CC-BY) license.
