Proposal for Formative Assessment and Effective Feedback for Students with Special Educational Needs

Abstract

This article proposes a theoretical-propositional model of formative assessment and effective feedback for students with special educational needs (SEN), grounded in the framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Through a bibliographic and regulatory review, it presents the principles and strategies that enable the flexibilization of evaluation processes toward inclusive contexts. The design is structured into four stages: diagnosis, continuous assessment, feedback, and final adapted evaluation. Key tools include flexible rubrics, observation checklists, and various formats of feedback (oral, written, visual, manipulative, and digital). The model aims to promote educational equity by respecting the learning pace, styles, and conditions of students with SEN. It concludes that inclusive assessment must transcend traditional punitive logic to become a pedagogical support device. The proposal addresses the current need to bridge the gap between inclusive legislation and pedagogical practice.
