Abstract

The Comprehensive Educational Assessment Strategy in Higher Education aims to facilitate the learning process in higher education through the implementation of technological tools that support assessment processes, thereby providing significant benefits to our students. In this guide, you will find theoretical information that enables the acquisition of scientific knowledge for practical application. It is intended to be a resource that aids the learning process and the development of capabilities, abilities, and skills in a manner ideally suited to the competency-based assessment of student learning. Therefore, it focuses on the types, techniques, and instruments of assessment. Assessment is currently one of the most prominent topics in the field of education—not because it is a completely new subject, but because administrators, educators, parents, students, and society as a whole are more aware of the importance and implications of assessing or being assessed. There is a greater awareness of the need to achieve certain standards of educational quality and to make effective use of resources, time, and effort; furthermore, the level of competition among individuals and institutions has also increased. Perhaps one of the most important factors explaining why assessment currently occupies such a prominent place in education is the realization among education professionals that it is assessment that actually dictates and determines “what, how, why, and when to teach.”
